A discussion titled “Engaging with Ageing” will be held at 7 p.m., Monday, May 19, at the Oak Park Arms retirement community, 408 S. Oak Park Ave.
Members of the baby boomer generation in the United States are turning 65 in record numbers, and soon there will be the largest senior population in the nation’s history. It is expected that by 2030 there will be about 72.1 million seniors – more than twice the number in 2000. In addition, nearly 80 percent of baby boomers own their own homes, with one of four owning more than one property.
A panel of experts will be on hand to discuss a variety of ageing topics and issues, and will answer participants’ questions. The experts will include an aging-in-place specialist, a senior residence professional, a transition and relocation specialist, an estate/elder law attorney and a health and long-term care insurance specialist.
Oak Park Arms Senior Living is a rental retirement community which provides senior housing in the form of independent living. Furnished apartments are also available for a short-term stay – a weekend, a week, a month or longer.
The workshop is free and open to the public and light refreshments will be served. For more information call 708-386-4040.
