The Oak Park Arms Music Club called, “Spinning the Oldies,” will enjoy a program titled, “New Beginnings,” at 6 p.m. Friday, January 26 2018, in the Grand Ballroom of the Oak Park Arms, 408 S. Oak Park Ave. The Music Club is hosted by radio announcer Dan Kane.
At a time when it’s getting more and more difficult to find a radio station that plays the hits from days gone by, Oak Park resident Dan Kane discovered there are still many fans of the music that was popular in the middle years of the 20th century, roughly 1935 to 1975.
Once a month, Kane hauls his enormous collection of CD’s over to the Oak Park Arms, where a growing crowd of folks from the community gather to reminisce, tap their feet, and catch up on the latest sounds from the last millennium.
The program spans multiple musical genre: classical, pop, jazz and Big Band and folk musical selections.
“Musical selections prompt, ‘Where were you when’ conversations and interesting trivia stirred by memories,” said Desi Vasquez, social director at the Oak Park Arms. “As a result, we’ve had some wonderful discussions.”
Oak Park Arms Senior Living is a rental retirement community which provides senior housing in the form of independent living. Furnished apartments are also available for a short-term stay – a weekend, a week, a month or longer.
