The Monday Night Concert Series continues with classical guitarist Paul Henry at 7 p.m. Monday, Feb. 24, at the Oak Park Arms, 408 S. Oak Park Ave.
Described as “possessing finesse and a great sense of musicality,” Henry was a first place winner in the Society of American Musicians Competition in 2005 where he was recognized for his fluent technique, adept sense of style and phrasing, and fine ear for unfamiliar repertoire.
He went on to receive high acclaim for many performances across the United States, and he performed in Springfield as part of the Springfield Classical Guitar Society Concert Series. In addition, Henry is a frequent performer for National Public Radio and has given a number of live performances for Wisconsin Public Radio.
He has recorded several CDs, including “The Virtuoso Guitar of Spain and Latin America.” His transcriptions and arrangements in musical performances often reflect his avid interest in Spanish and Latin American repertoire.
Henry has conducted master classes at many colleges and universities throughout the United States. In 1991 he joined the faculty of the Music Conservatory at Roosevelt University in Chicago, where he teaches classical guitar.
