A country western dance workshop will take place at 11 a.m., Thursday, Aug. 13, at the Oak Park Arms retirement community, 408 S. Oak Park Ave. A tap class follows at noon. Instructor Roberta Kulik will teach both.
Country dancing is informal. Because of cowboy boots, country western dance is more likely to feature a flat-footed glide with some heel and toe touches. In addition to a quiet upper body, there is very little hip movement.
A 45 minute tap class follows which can be performed standing or sitting. Fun yet simple choreographies / routines are learned and practiced. Tap shoes are welcome but are not required
“Both classes are great for coordination, memory and brain stimulation,” said Desi Vasquez, social director at the Oak Park Arms. “They are a real left brain/right brain workout.
