The public is invited to an open house titled, “A Healthy Walk Around the World,” from 1 – 4 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 24, at the Oak Park Arms retirement community, 408 S. Oak Park Ave.
Guests will receive a passport which can be taken along to the different “countries” (stations) that provide screenings, assessments and challenges. Each station will issue a stamp on the participant’s passport. Those with completed passports will be entered for the chance to win a special grand prize.
Stations include:
• bone density scans from West Suburban Hospital
• a memory stimulation workshop
• hand massages from Rainbow Hospice and Palliative Care
• blood pressure screenings from Oak Park Arms
• balance and gait assessments from Interim Healthcare
In addition to gifts and prizes, a Moroccan Bazaar will be hosted by the artisans of the Lifelong Learning Center.
The open house will include a tour of the grounds, piano lounge music, a performance by the Lance Brown Quartet, and raffles. The public will get the chance to learn more about the Oak Park Arms and what it has to offer.
Oak Park Arms Senior Living is a rental retirement community which provides senior housing in the form of independent living. Furnished apartments are also available for a short-term stay – a weekend, a week, a month or longer.
