The Monday Night Concert Series features seasoned jazz vocalist Jeannie Lambert at 7 p.m. Monday, April 24, at the Oak Park Arms retirement community, 408 S. Oak Park Ave. The Monday night concerts are free and open to the public.
Throughout her career, Lambert performed at all of Chicago’s hottest jazz spots such as The Playboy Club, Andy’s Jazz Club, The Green Mill, Green Dolphin Street, Pops for Champagne, Lush Life, Philander’s and Katerina’s.
After studying ballet for 16 years, Lambert moved to Chicago in 1963. When she realized that many dancers’ careers end by the age of 25, she started singing whenever and wherever she could. In addition, she listened to fabulous horn players including her long time, ultra-talented husband Russ Phillips.
Lambert has matured into the singer whom Larry Kart author and reporter for the Chicago Tribune called, “hip, cool-timbered in the manner of Anita O’Day and June Christy.”
The Monday Night Concert Series, which is free and open to the public, is dedicated to presenting small ensembles, primarily solos, duos and trios.
The Oak Park Arms is a rental retirement community that provides independent and assisted living apartments and a full schedule of activities and services. Furnished apartments are also available for a short-term stay – a weekend, a week, a month or longer.
