Roberta Kulik will teach a Military Dance workshop at 11 a.m., Thursday, Nov. 14, at the Oak Park Arms, 408 S. Oak Park Ave.
A military dance team, also known as a drill team, is a marching unit that performs routines based on military drills. Once the drill steps are perfect, drill teams compete against each other.
The technique and style of a military routine has intricate formations, walking patterns, arm sequences, kicks and drop splits. The team members’ goal is to look as though they, as a team, make up one person. Each move is very precise. Music for this type of dance is mostly instrumental.
Kulik will teach user friendly steps and choreography for military dancing.
Oak Park Arms Senior Living is a rental retirement community which provides senior housing in the form of independent living. Furnished apartments are also available for a short-term stay – a weekend, a week, a month or longer.
